Finance Analyst - Group Central Cost (36115)

Holland & Barrett is growing fast - and we're just getting started. With double-digit growth over the past two years, we're on a mission to help people take control of their health and wellbeing. Backed by a bold three-year strategy, we're investing in our people, expanding our store footprint, modernising our digital platforms, and launching innovative, science-backed products. In the past year alone, we've opened 36 new stores, refreshed over 320 locations, and grown our customer base by 9%, reaching record levels of satisfaction.

Our growth isn't limited to the UK. We're expanding internationally, with strong momentum across Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and beyond - driving a 19% increase in global revenues last year. At the same time, we're overhauling our digital experience: replacing legacy systems, improving our supply chain, and launching personalised wellness solutions that make it easier than ever for customers to get the support they need, wherever they are.

The Role

The Purpose of the Role:

This is a 12-month fixed-term opportunity, created to cover an internal secondment.

Step into a role that puts you at the financial core of the business. As a Finance Analyst supporting Group Central Costs and reporting to the Finance Business Partner, you'll play a key role in managing and interpreting the financial performance of central functions, covering both payroll and non-payroll spend.

You'll collaborate with stakeholders across the group, transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights that support strategic decisions and ensure robust financial control.

This is your opportunity to move beyond the spreadsheets and into the story behind the numbers. By working closely with central teams, you'll gain exposure to the cost drivers that shape the business and develop the commercial awareness needed to influence decisions that matter. Whether you're supporting budget reviews, analysing trends, or advising on financial performance, you'll be building the skills and confidence to influence decisions at the heart of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle the month-end process by posting journals, reviewing profit and loss reports, and managing timing adjustments like accruals and prepayments.
  • Check that costs and income reconcile with expectations and are recorded correctly.
  • Build and maintain cost tracking tools to monitor spending, spot risks, and find ways to save money.
  • Provide detailed variance analysis and support updating forecasts and budgets.
  • Collaborate across divisions to deliver insightful reporting and commentary.
  • Support managers by providing timely financial updates, detailed cost reviews, and helpful insights to guide their decisions.
  • Help prepare accurate and on-time budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist in rolling out new finance systems.
  • Look for ways to reduce costs and make spending more efficient.
  • Ensure compliance with financial governance frameworks, PO compliance, and aged GRNI balances.
  • Offer financial advice for buying decisions, managing purchase orders, and working with suppliers.
  • Keep improving finance tools and processes to ensure data stays accurate and useful.
  • Contribute to the finance team's efforts to improve the quality and impact of its work.

Location: This role is based in Nuneaton, and may be occasionally required to travel to other locations of H&B. We support flexibility and productivity of our employees by hybrid working arrangements with minimum 2 days presence in the office

The Person

  • Part-qualified or newly qualified (ACCA, CIMA, ACA), with experience in retail or commercial finance, ideally with a focus on cost management.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a natural curiosity and a drive to uncover insights and improve performance.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, changing environments and able to bring clarity to complex problems.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience in financial modelling, forecasting, and performance tracking.
  • Confident communicator who can build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across the business.
  • Proactive in improving processes, systems, and reporting to drive efficiency and better decision-making.
