Head of CFO Office (39220)
Location: We offer hybrid working, with an expectation that you'll be present our head office in Nuneaton (CV10 7RH) for a minimum of 2 days per week.
If you've ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes of a Finance leadership team, this role will give you the closest view without actually becoming the CFO. You'll be the organising force that keeps the CFO and Finance Leadership Team pointing in the same direction, doing the right things, in the right order, at the right time.
It's part strategy, part orchestration, part “can we please get this back on track”. You'll translate priorities into plans, make sure people stick to them, and introduce the kind of clarity and rhythm that keeps a fast‑moving leadership team aligned
What you'll actually be doing
- You'll be the person ensuring Finance leadership works in a structured, planned, and aligned way
-
That means translating the CFO's objectives into a small, sharp set of priorities - then making sure they're understood, owned, tracked, and delivered.
- You'll also manage the development of the Finance budget and track performance against it, giving the CFO and FLT a clear line of sight on spend, variances, risks, and decisions they need to make.
-
You'll design and run the Finance leadership operating rhythm: weekly FLT meetings, monthly deep dives, quarterly reviews. You'll make sure those sessions have a purpose, the right agenda, and clear actions - and ensure that things stay on track.
-
You'll build and maintain KPIs and delivery dashboards that show what's moving, what's stuck, and where decisions are needed. You'll spot risks early, surface them clearly, and help the CFO and FLT focus on what matters most.
-
Another focus will be coordinating process‑improvement initiatives that drive efficiency, reduce friction, and help Finance operate more effectively.
-
Alongside that, you'll support (and sometimes lead) strategic initiatives on behalf of the CFO - from shaping plans and milestones to producing decision-ready materials.
-
And you'll play a big role in communication and engagement: Finance town halls, offsites, away days, and the messaging that connects leadership priorities to the wider Finance community.
How we'll know you're making an impact
- Things feel more joined-up.
- Finance priorities are clear, tracked, and delivered
- Leadership meetings are sharper and more effective. KPIs are visible and effectively used. Risks don't surprise people.
- The CFO and FLT feel supported, focused, and confident in what's moving and why. Finance colleagues understand the direction, see progress, and feel engaged.
What you'll need
- You'll bring strong knowledge of how Finance functions fit together - FP&A, Commercial Finance, Treasury, Financial Control - and how strategy turns into delivery.
- You think in structure, can cut through ambiguity, and are comfortable working autonomously with senior leaders. You're organised, analytical, and calm when things move fast.
- You communicate clearly and confidently, whether that's in a room with the CFO or in a deck that needs to land first time. You're highly capable with PowerPoint/Slides and Excel/Sheets, and you're comfortable working with KPIs and data.
- You'll likely come from a Finance, Strategy, Commercial, PMO, or internal consulting background, with experience working across functions and exposure to senior leadership.
- This role isn't about title or hierarchy. It's about judgement, influence, and delivery – and that's what you'll need to bring.
- You're tech‑focused and naturally curious about how things work - the kind of person who spots manual processes and immediately starts thinking about how to automate, streamline, or engineer a better way of doing them.
This could be ideal if you are:
- Someone who either did 3 years as a consultant and wants to come and be a smart generalist
- Someone who wants to do an MBA but actually would rather do this for 1-1.5 years
- Someone who has finance experience but wants to pivot into business
- Someone who knows it'll be hard 1-1.5 years but it'll push their career forward
You want to know what's in it for you. Here's a taste:
- The salary's competitive and reflects your impact
- 25 days of holiday + 8 Bank holidays
- 25% staff discount across our range - plus free online delivery - so you can live the wellness you help deliver.
- Pension contributions - because future-you deserves a break.
- Free wellness diagnostic tests - knowing your health is the first step to improving it.
- Exclusive discounts on wellness services, gym memberships, and more.
- Perks from other retailers - discounts, advice, and savings from brands you actually use.
- A culture of wellbeing - from mental health support to menopause coaching, we're serious about helping you feel your best.
