Head of Engineering Online Customer Experience (39515)
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Engineering – Online Digital (Web & App) to lead our in-house engineering organisation supporting our web and mobile platforms. This role is critical to accelerating our digital transformation agenda and evolving our online capabilities into a scalable, high-performing H&B wellness ecosystem.
The Head of Engineering will play a pivotal role in maturing our engineering strategy, strengthening our in-house squads, and building a culture of engineering excellence. Working in close partnership with Product, Platform, Data, and Digital business teams, this leader will ensure that technology delivery is fully aligned to customer growth, digital priorities, and long-term platform evolution.
This individual will deeply understand H&B's strategic direction and translate it into clear, actionable technical roadmaps and execution plans. They will champion a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement—raising the bar on quality, scalability, resilience, and speed of delivery across our web and app platforms.
- Lead and develop Engineering Managers and multi-skilled squads across our online (web and app) platforms.
- Define and drive the online engineering strategy in alignment with digital, omnichannel, and customer experience objectives.
- Mature our in-house engineering capability, embedding strong ownership, modern engineering practices, and AI-enabled development approaches where appropriate.
- Partner closely with Product, Platform, and Data leaders to ensure aligned roadmaps, effective prioritisation, and measurable value delivery.
- Strengthen engineering governance, quality standards, and operational excellence to support scalable, resilient, and secure systems.
- Foster a culture of innovation, experimentation, and forward-thinking technology adoption.
- Enable high performance across geographically distributed and culturally diverse teams.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration and stable, efficient delivery processes that empower teams to succeed.
- Strong technical background with prior hands-on experience across a broad technology stack.
- Proven experience leading and scaling in-house engineering teams, including distributed or remote models.
- Demonstrated ability to embed a culture of engineering ownership, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Experience delivering and evolving modern web and mobile platforms, including end-to-end transactional journeys (search, browse, checkout, payment). (Experience in wellness based conversational ecommerce platform is a nice-to-have)
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to align technology strategy to business priorities.
- Experience elevating engineering standards, including code quality, architectural practices, and operational resilience.
- Strong data literacy and the ability to leverage insights to inform technical and platform decisions.
- A forward-looking mindset, including pragmatic adoption of AI engineering and emerging technologies.
