The Team:

This role sits within our OCX Online vertical, specifically in the Basket & Checkout Team – a key part of our Core Transactional journey. The team is responsible for ensuring our customers enjoy a seamless and satisfying checkout experience, whether they're shopping on our website or mobile app.

Key focus areas include:

  • Basket Detail page on both e-commerce site and mobile app

  • Checkout flow and order confirmation pages

  • Mini Basket displayed across the site

  • Subscribe & Save functionality

About the Role:

As a Lead Front End Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in the team – not just building and delivering solutions, but championing engineering excellence, influencing architectural decisions, and working closely with stakeholders to shape our digital experience.

You'll help lead the way as we continue to scale, transform, and innovate in the wellness space.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and Deliver: Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performing software solutions.

  • Engineering Excellence: Write clean, maintainable code, applying SOLID principles and modern design patterns.

  • Observability: Implement robust monitoring, logging, and alerting to proactively identify and address issues.

  • Collaboration: Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to align feature delivery with our product roadmap.

  • Continuous Improvement: Take the lead in code reviews, technical discussions, and evolving development processes.

  • DevOps Mindset: Own your code from development through to deployment, embracing CI/CD practices to ensure smooth delivery.

Communication & Teamwork

  • Communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Collaborate across squads to manage dependencies and foster knowledge-sharing.

  • Proactively mentor and support team members, nurturing a culture of learning.

  • Participate in incident reviews and foster a no-blame culture through root cause analysis and shared accountability

Key Requirements:

Essential Skills:

  • Proven front end development experience using JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and React Native

  • Experience with server-side technologies, ideally Golang

  • Strong background in front end architecture, including Component Driven Design, Server-Side Rendering, and defining technical tickets (e.g. user stories, acceptance criteria)

  • A focus on observability, including building dashboards, setting alerts, and tracking metrics

  • Hands-on experience with modern CI/CD platforms such as GitLab, and containerisation tools like Docker and Kubernetes

  • Knowledge of testing frameworks for unit, integration, and performance testing

  • Demonstrated technical leadership – mentoring, influencing, and guiding engineers of varying experience levels

Desirable Skills:

  • Exposure to AI/ML technologies or workflows

  • Familiarity with API communication protocols such as REST, GraphQL, gRPC

  • Experience working with micro-frontends and tools like Storybook
