Senior Accounts Payable Assistant (20499)

The Role:

Reporting to the Accounts Payable Team Leader, you are responsible for ensure that all invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner. Ensuring that invoices are appropriately approved before payment is made to term.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for the timely management of Accounts Payable transactions in a proactive manner to
    ensure supplier accounts are accurate and up to date.
  • Ensure invoices are sent for appropriate approval in line with the company's authorisation manual
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal personnel to discuss solutions to prevent further issues arising
  • Dealing with PO and non-PO invoices
  • Review and reconcile Supplier statements
  • Clear and resolve any processing anomalies
  • Preparation of regular payment runs
  • Assist Accounts Payable Team leader and Manager in training and supporting team members
  • Provide support and cover for other team members within the AP department to ensure no backlogs occur
  • Assisting with month end processes
  • Supporting any process and system changes that are implemented for the improvement of the AP process and department deliverable
The Person:

To be considered for this role you must have the following:

  • Minimum of one year experience in similar position within Accounts Payable
  • Experience of high volume processing
  • Be IT literate with Intermediate / working knowledge of Excel
  • AAT qualification (desirable) 
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent telephone manner
  • Experienced in multi-site retailer (desirable)
  • Competent in financial software packages (desirable)
  • Knowledge of VAT requirements (desirable)
  • Strong Excel skills (desirable)
  • Experienced in dealing with European suppliers (desirable)
